HOW DO I CLOSE MY SELLER ACCOUNT. DEBT and deficit, cannot dissolve until AMAZON lets me BE FREE

I am writing on this forum as I’ve run out of patience and options. You can never contact a human being in this corporation. I’ve tried emailing amazon seller support, my “account manager” who now claims is no longer my account manager (without reason or warning or redirection) to ask to CLOSE my seller account for MONTHS.

I wanted to DISSOLVE this business due to running into DEFICIT and DEBT. I am using capital letters because amazon have refused to respond or help at all.

I have even told them KEEP the remaining stock and do as you will. They’ve already bled my business dry, taken all my money and what little savings I have. The next step for me is to dissolve and shut my business permanently as I’ve now got the bank calling me.

It is not by my choice to keep this business running. IT is literally only because of amazon, for the sake of 2 bottle sales a month that doesn’t cover the cost of fees?!

I’ve closed my physical business last year due to after-effects of Covid and having a ton of health issues and family issues come up, that left with me no option but to do this. I have contacted amazon on numerous occasions since then, but nothing is done at all.

I had wanted to dissolve the business LAST YEAR as it was bleeding dry from the huge costs and storage fees amazon were charging me.

My issue is that I very naively and stupidly used FBA service. Never use this if you are new. Stay away.

Because they have my stock there in their warehouse I do not know what I can do. I’ve asked them for a mailing address to collect the stock - no answer. I’ve told them to get rid of the stock and destroy it - no answer. I’ve told them keep the money - no answer.

I am not Elon Musk or Bill Gates. I am poor. [Moderator Edit: removed inappropriate commentary]

This organisation is run like a criminal gang, holding sellers hostage against their will and bleeding them dry until they’ve nothing left. How is it you can never leave of your own free will?! There’s a shocking number like this in the forums.
Go to ebay or etsy. Much fairer terms and better communication.

In the meantime, what do I do? I just want my life back from this evil company.
IF I close my seller account, will I be able to dissolve my business at last and be free?

When you say you told them to destroy the stock, did you create a removal / destroy order from your inventory, or did you just message them?

So sorry for your circumstances.
I cannot help with FBA, but above post from Demel is right.
…but one question - is your account active, or has it been deactivated/suspended for any reason ?
If so, they will not close your account - they will only close accounts that are active, so if deactivated, you will need to get it reactivated.
If it is just a case of receiving any outstanding funds then there are a couple of email addresses - The Little_Shop knows them.

Sorry for your problems. If you need our help, you need to answer the questions that have been asked.

Remember that you are dealing with computers on the whole. They have no empathy so you need to carry out your requests in the required manner either nothing will happen.

If your account is not suspended, it will be easy. If it is, as @JillyB1 said, your account will definitely not close and money will still leak out.

If you are on the professional selling plan, you should downgrade to the individual plan now.

We await your replies.

You need to create a removal order, it’s about 50p per unit… it’s quite easy to do, have you tried this?

You need to give a lot more background information.
What exactly has happened with Amazon?
Have you actually been suspended?
If so, do you have any notifications that you can post?

Once you have no FBA stock and all orders and outstanding payments are resolved up you can close your account from your settings page.

To remove your FBA stock just go to your FBA inventory page on seller central, tick all of it, and click CREATE REMOVAL ORDER in the dropdown where it says bulk action. You can choose to have it returned to you, disposed of, or even sold for pennies on the pound to a liquidator, but you can’t drive up to an amazon warehouse like a post office.

You’ve said you want to dissolve the business. If that’s literally what you mean - dissolving a business registered at companies house (as opposed to closing an amazon account) then you need to be careful if you have any outstanding debts or creditors. I understand the desire to just shut Amazon down any way you can, but giving away or disposing of stock when your business is no longer a “going concern” could be against your fiduciary duty to your creditors. If you’re a sole trader then it’s entirely your choice - you’d owe any debts regardless. In any case I’d strongly recommend having the stock returned to you or liquidated, but not disposed of.

I would agree with Moose, if bankruptcy is actually on the table, and you owe money to people, then you can’t just destroy your stock, I think legally you have to sell it to pay off your debts.

I get that you are frustrated, but they haven’t taken all your money and bled your business dry, not to sound harsh but it sounds like you didn’t do proper research to find out the storage fees, nor the removal or disposal fees, you would be charged before you sent over 850 items to FBA, for something that you say you only sell 2 of a month (meaning it would take 425 months, or over 35 years to sell…), if you have been trying to get Amazon to dispose of them for free instead of paying the fees since last year, then they are likely accruing long term storage fees every month.

You really need to pay to get them removed as soon as possible, as every month that you leave them there will cost you money. Just because you tell Amazon you are closing down your business, doesn’t mean they are going to fit the bill for disposing of your stock.

Once you have paid Amazon the money that you owe them, then you can close the account after I think 90 days.

Have a read if what the sellers are saying. Provide a bit more information and we can all help you. It is easy to get your stock back from FBA via a removal order but it will take a few weeks to physically get it back.
