FBA / MFN related question

Hi

Most of the sellers of a type of product that I’m interested in are MFN whereas I want to use FBA.

Is this a red flag?

Also how can be 100% sure of my seller fees prior to proceeding with a product idea?

Thanks

Check the revenue calculator
Just ensure you enter the vat bit correctly

I don’t see it as a red flag but without knowing what the product is , i would just be guessing
Maybe it’s something they can’t get a hazmat sds for , or the fba fees are higher than mfn shipping costs etc

Once added to your inventory - do a “dummy” send to amazon shipment for say 5 units with 5 units of something that defo isnt hazmat - if it’s hazmat I think it pops up on the 2nd or 3rd screen - can’t remember - and/or it will sperate the two items when you get to box shipment screen - ie it will show they must be shipped in separate boxes to each other - I used to do it on the old shipment format this way and it would always pop up a message to say hazmat - but it’s been ages & ages since ive done a hazmat product in the new send to amazon format, hence memory a bit fuzzy - but that was my “quick check” if a product was hazmat - or restricted altogether!

Sorry - forgot my final note - if its only MFN sellers and no FBA sellers at all - then 99% of the time there is a reason! - ie restricted, hazmat or other - if no fba sellers at all - then check it out inside & backwards before buying any for fba!

if it was a chunk of foam that weighed pretty much nothing but was 2 foot square, then that could be a reason as fees would be very high - but I’ve never listed anything “big” - so in my experience it is normally always hazmat or restricted from fba altogether cause amz dont want it in their buildings at all!

Do take into account, which hasn’t been mentioned here…even though your rate to send via FBA is more (don’t forget to factor in the cost of getting the units to FBA as well), you will likely sell more units because of them being FBA.

We have products that are FBA and then switch to FBM if FBA runs out of stock. We sell 5 or 6 units of one product per day FBA vs 2 or 3 units per week when FBM.
