Opening second Amazon Seller Account

Hi all,

I run a brand which sells through our website & Amazon. I also run another brand which sells through another website & doesn’t sell on Amazon yet but I would love to open a second account to sell those products on Amazon.

The second brand is in a completely different niche with a separate limited company and bank account. I was always under the impression that I required permission from Amazon to open a second account. Yesterday I requested permission and got the below response. Essentially they are saying I no longer need approval as long as both of my accounts are in good standing, which they are.

Do you think I’m safe to open a second account with separate bank, limited company, phone number and niche/products? I will also ensure I don’t login to this account via the same IP just to be sure.

Amazon used to process approval requests for sellers wanting to operate multiple seller accounts, we no longer require sellers get approval from us to open a second selling account.

Amazon recommends that you only open a second selling account if you have a legitimate business need and all of your current accounts are in good standing. This means you have an account that violated one of Amazon’s policies. As a result, an account related to that account was also enforced. You must reinstate the originally enforced account by following the appeal directions in the e-mail you received on that account. You will then be able to reinstate the related account by following the appeals process in the e-mail you received regarding the related account.

Requesting approval was removed a long time ago. It’s generally the case now that, as long as all accounts are in good standing, Amazon don’t have an issue with multiple accounts.

As for using a different IP, why bother? Amazon will already know it’s your 2nd account so using a different IP just makes things more complex than they need to be.
