Help Needed - Account Deactivated Due to Section 3, Despite Providing Proof of Authenticity

Hello Everyone,

I’m seeking help and advice regarding an issue with my Amazon FBA account. My account has been deactivated under Section 3 since August 9th, 2024, over one product I purchased online from Costco, a reputable and legitimate wholesale retailer. I am based in the USA and hold a business membership with Costco.

I’ve submitted multiple appeals to Amazon, including all necessary documentation such as:

Proof of purchase receipt/invoice from Costco

Order details, including the order number verifying the exact product in question

My address as it appears on the purchase records

Documentation in both PDF and picture formats for convenience

Email confirmation of the purchase, including shipping information and tracking number

Bank account information showing the purchase

Product details and my business information

Despite providing everything requested, my account remains deactivated, and all my other products remain unsold, potentially expiring soon. Each time I follow up, I receive the same generic responses such as:

“We received your submission but do not have enough information to reactivate your account.”

“For privacy reasons, we do not provide details about our investigation methods.”

My main question is: Is Costco not considered a legitimate source by Amazon? I have every document available to prove that my product is 100% authentic, yet my account remains deactivated, and I’m at a loss as to what else I can provide.

If anyone has faced a similar situation or has suggestions on how to resolve this, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Thank you in advance for your help!

" Account Deactivated Due to Section 3, Despite Providing Proof of Authenticity"

"Proof of purchase receipt/invoice from Costco"

" I purchased online from Costco, a reputable and legitimate wholesale retailer.

You are unlikely to be reinstated because of the following --

1. Costco is NOT an authorized WHOLESALE DISTRIBUTOR of anything. PERIOD.

They are a retail STORE that calls themselves a Wholesale company. They are (most likely) an authorized SELLER but they have NO ability to pass on their authorization to sell to you or anyone else.

2. Because of #1, you have NO proof of authenticity and no VALID chain of custody to prove authenticity.

3. You have NO LOA from the BRAND.

4. You have a RECEIPT and not an INVOICE as required under Amazon policies.

" Is Costco not considered a legitimate source by Amazon? "

NO, IT IS NOT. If you had done ANY search of the Forum you would have found numerous other posts by sellers that have been suspended for using Costco,Sam's Club, BJs Wholesale, and other RETAIL stores foe sourcing.

For any other rookies out there reading this, it is a 100% near certain permanent suspension if you follow this path.

HERE is what you need to know --

THE AMAZON TWO STEP -- A NEW DANCE FOR SELLERS

More and more frequently Amazon is taking a TWO STEP approach and you are probably caught with not doing one of the steps (or either one!)

You are likely confusing AMAZON allowing you to list (or at least "ungate") an item or category and actually being APPROVED to sell a product. Amazon may have ungated you for a CATEGORY but there can be 100's of brands in the category and they ALL have their own restrictions.

AMAZON is only interested in FEES. They will allow a chimpanzee to list if it means they collect $$$$$.

Additionally, brands that you COULD sell yesterday may be restricted today or next week. Amazon is a moving target to deal with.

DO YOU have an LOA from the brand allowing you to sell on here?

If you have an LOA that specifically says you can sell on Amazon you MIGHT survive this. Is it POSSIBLE that the brand has sent Amazon a "whitelist" of approved sellers and did not have you on it? Contact your sales rep at the BRAND(S) involved and ask about their whitelist. (You DO have a rep at the brands, don't you?)

More and more brands are providing such a "whitelist" of their approved sellers and if YOU are NOT on the list you will be stopped in your tracks and probably hit with an IP violation.

I had one of my brands stop me because they CHANGED the company they hired to screen sellers. The NEW screener did not recognize my Amazon store name because I do all my purchases under a different LLC. It took a couple weeks to get straightened out and no problems since then.

DID YOU source from AUTHORIZED wholesale sources that your rep at the brand says are OK.

NOTE the verification is required from the brand that the source is legitimate and authorized, NOT from one of those touted on TikTok and YouTube as having "thousands of brands and products" that assures you that they are authorized.

If you have watched any YouTube or TikTok videos FORGET everything you saw there.

Spend hours/days on Seller U and read the Forum to see all the really creative ways rookies and experienced sellers find to get suspended by ignoring the advice above!

a reputable and legitimate wholesale retailer

There are two types of places to buy things: A retailer, or a wholesaler. There is no such thing as a "wholesale retailer".

While it is possible to make wholesale purchases at Costco (by setting up a Business membership, supplying your business license and tax info), if you paid any sales tax on the purchase, it is retail. And the wholesale purchases are not intended for direct resale; it's for things like food for your food truck, etc.

A Costco receipt is not going to resolve any IP complaints on Amazon.
