Unfair Amazon Practice – Measuring My Product Fully Expanded Instead of in Polybag
Amazon is unfairly charging me higher shipping fees by removing my product from its polybag packaging (where it is in a collapsed state) and measuring it at its fully expanded size instead. This drastically increases my FBA fees, even though I ship it properly packaged in a polybag to stay compact.
I have opened 7 cases, and the issue was escalated, but I am still being overcharged. Has anyone else experienced this? What steps have worked for you?
I have clear proof—both the polybagged and collapsed item’s dimensions and how Amazon is measuring it incorrectly. How do I get this resolved? Any advice is appreciated! 🚨

You have a 50/50 chance of anything being done.
- You have only opened up one case and it was the last one submitted. Every new case submitted canceled out the one sent before. Amazon does this to keep things running smoothly and efficiently.
- Are the opened sizes stated in the listing and or the description.
- FBA workers don't make mistakes due to Jeff Bezos' DAY ONE / DAY TWO work rule. Every employee is to work every day as if it were Day One on the job, with lots of dedication, accuracy, and vigor. Mistakes on the job lead to Day Two, termination.

Hello @Seller_ZMIZN4K8pf3Yq- and thanks for highlighting this situation here in the New Seller Community.
I wanted to make sure you had our details on how to calculate dimensional weight directly, since it sounds like you are already familiar with the process for requesting re-measurement. That page shares the following for replicating potential measurements with polybags:
"To replicate potential machine measurements, take a single item package, with the item inside, as it would be received by a customer. On a flat surface, fully extend loose packaging material, such as poly bag flaps and package handles, to capture the maximum item package dimensions. Measure the item package’s longest edge as its length, its second longest edge as its width, and its shortest edge as its height.
If one or more of these dimensions is varies across the package, due to a bulge in the packaging or something similar, measure the longest or thickest part of that dimension. To minimize the dimensions of deformable packaging, ensure that the packaging doesn’t exhibit loose material by using methods such as tight-fitting or vacuum-sealed poly bags, or taped flaps."
That page also contains details on avoiding multiple different packaging methodologies, which can impact measurements.
I hope these resources help, and thank you again for checking in with us on the seller forums!
