Switching from fba to fbm as amazon asking for safety data sheet
Hi so i sell a product that amazon are asking for the safety data sheet on. There were about 7 fba sellers selling it, i have 140 in stock but the item is now showing as out of stock. I can see two of the other fba sellers stock has also vanished, but the other sellers remain active. I have requested the safety data sheet from the manufacturer which I have supplied to Amazon. However they are clear in their requirements that they need the title of the product to be the same on the sds as the listings title on amazon. It isnt exactly the same so im worried they are not going to accept the report. I am trying to think ahead and thinking worst case if i have to move from fba to fbm. Am i right in thinking i need to do a stock removal on my 140 units, is this expensive? and whats the best way for me to start fbm, what shipping partners should I use that are cost effective? do amazon not supply these? Thankyou for your help and sorry for the long winded post.

I don’t think you will solve your problem by going to FBM, Amazon will probably still want the safety sheet to prove the item is safe, you will be selling on the same listing, just that you will pick, pack and post the item yourself.
Removal starts at about 30p per item, so yes removal of 140 items will be expensive, and yes if you want to move to FBM and these 140 items are your only stock, you will need to remove them, you can’t really pick, pack and post them yourself if they are in Amazon’s warehouse which you don’t have access to
If you move to FBM it will be up to you to decide which courier you want to use to ship your orders, and no Amazon will not arrange or supply these for you…

I have sent multiple SDS sheets to Amazon and virtually all of the time, the listing name does not match exactly what the product is. It’s always similar, but due to the way people list etc, it’s never actually the same.
So in itself, I wouldn’t worry too much about that.
As long as it is patently obvious, that is the same product, it shouldn’t be rejected for that.
I would be more concerned about missing parts of the SDS sheet. You will find that a lot of the time, even though specific sections don’t actually apply to the product, Amazon like to see said section, stating nothing!
But for the time being, give it some time, let them reject or not and then worry about it.
Unless an item is classed as Hazmat, you shouldn’t have any issues withdrawing stock from Amazon.

If Amazon does reject the SDS due to a different name they will give you a sheet to fill out that you can then stipulate and say product XXX on the SDS sheet corresponds to product XXX in my amazon catalogue, you then sign it and send it through the SS again with the regular SDS and they should accept it, happens a lot of the time with my hazmat.
