Another day another fake IP complaint from a Gmail account with non-existant company

Who reviews the IP complaints? How can every illegitimate , fraudulent claim be taken seriously? Why isn't there a guideline to check first to see if the complaining party/ the ill intended person/ the illegitimate or non -existent company actually exist.

We received another Fake IP complaint for a brand that we had received previously and this time someone else claims to be the rights owner of the trademark. I guess anyone can now sit behind a computer, make a gmail address and files fake claims and claim to be a trademark owner and Amazon will take their complaint seriously and punish the good, ethical sellers.

It would have been understandable if it was a legitimate complaint but a completely bogus complaint for a well know brand who certainly does not use a gmail account and would not hire anyone with a gmail account does not need a genius to figure out.

Hello @Seller_GklE1Q4NTUWEB,

This is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I would be happy to look into this issue deeper for you. Brand Registry is sometimes a confusing and frustrated topic. If you provide a case or complaint ID, I can look further into it and potentially provide additional guidance.

To address a few of your questions, Intellectual Property complaints via Brand Registry must be submitted by the Rights Owner who owns the IP being reported OR an agent with permission from the Rights Owner to submit notices on his or her behalf. This is all laid out in the Intellectual Property for Rights Owner help page.

Hope this adds some context.

Best,

Dougal
