Do Amazon sell older stock first?
I am making changes to a product I currently sell, the new version will have different packaging and an extra feature that I want to advertise in my product images.
The issue is that I still have some of the old stock. Ideally, I’d wait until there was no stock left then ship new stock, but that will probably result in weeks with no stock. I could ship it in now, but I’m worried that when my new updated product arrives to Fulfillment centres, it will get mixed up with the old inventory, which looks different to my new images, and so a customer might get an old item that looks different than the new one.
Does Amz have a system where they sell the oldest inventory first? I’ve read some responses that say they do NOT use such a system, but I find that hard to believe.

I think the only solution is either to wait for old stock to sell out, or create a removal order for the old stock. either way there will be a time period where you are out of stock..
Not sure it's "hard to believe" - it's a whole new level of data and fulfillment if each individual unit as a "received date" attached to it. Amazon would have to put an additional bar code label on each unit at the fulfillment center

Not sure why you find it "hard to believe" that a service with over 100 warehouses where workers are on a tight schedule doesn't take the time to look at a product to decide which is older, but it's true, Amazon does NOT use any sort of FIFO process; they take what is closest to the destination, which might be from your latest shipment, or from your first.

If the item has an expiration date, Amazon does track that in the system, however if the product doesn't have an expiration date I would echo what @Seller_gC8zhroXlURLU stated:
