AMAZON ALLOWING CARRIER "ADJUSTMENTS" ROBERRY
AMAZON HELP!!! Why are the carriers allowed to charge these kinds of rates. If I ship from a carrier station, they will not charge over $100 for 1lb to travel to the next state. Why are these carriers being allowed to charge these rates? AMAZON HELP AND PUT A STOP TO THIS!. One order was over $238 adjustment to ship to the next state. THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY wrong with these rates and many people on the forum who are actually noticing are complaining and Amazon you need to investigate this. Titled "adjustments" so some sellers are not even realizing. I am negative $10,000 and my $13,000 I had has been taken in these "adjustments". This is Criminal. Amazon do something

So here are some fun facts. All carriers UPS / USPS / FedEx have these machines that scan the packages and know EXACT measurements and weight of each package you send. These machines are super accurate and they are checked and calibrated by the federal gov. So when you get a size or wight adjustment 99% of the time its right on the money. Sometimes 2 boxes will get stuck together or employee error but it's VERY rare. If all orders you send are entered correctly there is no issues. When they see that more and more dimensions are way off ALL your future shipments will be audited one by one until you stop entering wrong dimensions.
Here is the problem - when you get a quote from the carrier it's based on the information you provide. Say you entered a box 8x6x6 with weight of 2lbs and the rate is $8. They CAN claim that the rate for same box 8x6x6 at 3lbs would've been $30. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it.
Most sellers get adjustments that are under $1-$5 those are simply carriers saying hey we provided you inaccurate quote or the package was slightly off in weight or size. Don't even pay attention to those because it's nothing new nothing to worry about.
The big adjustments are a problem and a big headache. Figure out exactly why you are being charged for those and contact carriers directly. Amazon won't help you and try to get in touch with someone locally that can push the issue on your behalf. ( UPS Commercial Accounts Manager / USPS Post Master / FedEx Local District Manager )

We got hit with $2300 in ADJUSTMENTS last month and as usual Amazon is silent about and and refuses to answer questions in a timely manner. Most of my adjustments were from DHL shipments to Canada. We already pay a high price for Canadian shipments but they continue to claim higher adjustment fees after shipping!!! Like most have said here, this is Amazons bait and switch tactics offering a cheap price and then screwing us with adjustments!! If our package dimensions and weight are correct at time of shipping, then the price we paid and were quoted should be honored.

I feel like a lot of people are not rounding UP with their weights and dimensions, because I'm not getting these adjustments except for one I had which I can reasonably assume they were correct that I underweighed it (I had one package that weighed exactly 4 oz and that's what I used, but of course after that I taped a label to it...).
So if you have a package that's 4.0 or 4.1 oz bring it up to five...

It is highly illegal to switch the pricing unless there is a materially different size/weight (which we know isn't the issue on the majority of these). I heard a while back that my state AGs office was looking into the issue. Last I heard Amazon pointed its finger to USPS/Fedex/UPS and they pointed back at Amazon.

I think the amount of these adjustments are ridiculous, they are not small dollar amounts. Hundreds of dollars on 1 or 2lb adjustments. I think Amazon should stop making excuses for the adjustments and investigate THE AMOUNTS of these adjustments because shipping 1lb to the next town should not be over $100 dollars
Hello @Seller_ktoMQfqzPi2j0
The most common reason for a large shipping adjustment for a relatively small difference in dimensions/weight is for shipments using the FedEx One Rate service.
The FedEx One Rate shipping method has maximum dimensions of 2200 cubic inches and 50 pounds. These are strictly enforced. If a seller purchases a label entering measurements that qualify for FedEx One Rate but the actual package is larger than those maximum thresholds, FedEx will charge their higher shipping rates.
We recommend that sellers be especially careful when shipping packages right at that threshold, and always be careful to enter the correct shipping label information.

Hello @Seller_lBLvTGc14CMzc
I see that you have commented in several forums threads related to carrier adjustments, including this thread about FedEx carrier adjustments.
At that time you suggested "If the label isn't enough to cover the shipping cost, then the carrier simply should not ship." I would like again make clear the following:
Sellers are responsible for shipping label rates based on the actual dimensions/weight of the package.
For example: if a seller purchases a shipping label for a 5-pound package but actually ships a 15-pound package, the carrier can apply a carrier adjustment charge so that the seller is ultimately charged for the 15-pound shipping rate.

Please let me know if you would like me to provide you with more details about the adjustments you have received. If you provide a Case ID, I can review them in more detail and open up a direct case with you to share more information.

Here's what I would like to know:
I ship with eBay shipping labels and Pirate Ship, for orders outside Amazon. I've never had a carrier adjustment on any eBay label. I can think of 2 Pirate Ship labels in the last year that were 'adjusted' (and these were re-adjusted back correctly to me, since the USPS mistakenly said the packages were Priority Mail, when they weren't).
Why is it that essentially, only Amazon labels get adjusted? And, also, why is it that Pirate Ship has a very simple and quick mechanism to dispute an adjustment with the USPS, when there is no such mechanism with Amazon?

My issue is not them charging the difference. My issue is the amount they charging. Why are their rates so exaggerated compared to walking into their facility to ship. My issue is the amount they are charging. Why are they being allowed to charge such ridiculous amounts.

You are shipping large and heavy packages using expedited shipping services.
Such services for large, heavy packages are often expensive, and the rates you were charged appear accurate.

we have also been dealing with this for some time (years in fact), in many cases it's actually when the item is returned that we see these large charges, it seems we are responsible when a buyer uses an oversized package or 'free' priority envelope/box from the post office to return their item...and there is no recourse and no way to dispute the charge OR charge the customer...we don't even see the charge until 6 weeks or longer after the fact, making it impossible to add it to restocking fees or safetclaim...although I doubt that would be allowed anyway
another fun fact...when they first announced this new policy last year they told us we would receive an emailed report of these charges in detail...we have NEVER received any notification of these charges and have no access to any reports that we know of...the ONLY way to find these charges is line by line in transaction detail...if you do hundreds of orders per day this is painstakingly difficult just to find out where these charges are coming from...why can't we download a simple report showing these charges, with order numbers and by carrier (and whether they are for original or return shipment)...why are these fees hidden so well by Amazon?

Keep track of all these discrepancies logged. We are recording the packaging of certain shipments. Recording the measurements and weights, showing these packages sitting on the scale and being measured. Then when Amazon in conjunction with UPS or USPS commits fraud, the proof is recorded.
There will eventually be a lawsuit.

False adjustments have been an issue for years with Buy Shipping Amazon's UPS account. I have boxes that are 25x7x7 outside dimensions(24x6x6 box) for example and the specific products that go in there have been shipped dozens of times. The entered dimensions and weight are 100% correct. And the adjusted weights actually match entered weights. So for example, I'll round up to 3 lbs on a package that weighs 2.3 lbs. Adjustment will say 48oz which is 3lbs. So not sure why tf this happens since the adjusted weight matches.
It's more ignorance than criminal. Borderline criminal when I was tossed between UPS and Amazon support over a dozen times attempting to file a claim and never was able to ger clarity on doing so. Both companies denying they are responsible. Amazon says UPS needs to handle. UPS says it's Amazon's UPS account and they need to handle it.
Criminal is Address Correction Fees. 100%. Amazon buyer enters address, Amazon gives order address to us, we have to ship to address on order. We can't alter address. We can't cancel order without punishment. We are stuck in a trap situation. Any other business doing this would face trial eventually. Amazon gets to coast on by. I'm highly positive they get a cut of Buy Shipping which is why they push the program and offer to cover some things. It's always about $$, every aspect of everything they do. They also benefit from you pumping their volume so when they negotiate contract, they get amazing rates.

We see this type of mistaken adjustment all the time. You need to get a Fedex account so the bills go directly to you. You can still buy shipping through Amazon and the bills flow through to your account.
FedEx is making incorrect adjustments on shipments that are not "out of specs" for one rate etc. Their scanners incorrectly scan some packages. When you have your own FedEx account rep, you can show them and they will work with you on this.
