When you sign up for CSBA you are agreeing to let Amazon handle things however they like, which is usually giving away your money to make buyers happy. I wouldn't touch CSBA with a ten foot pole.

That is what you signed up for, Customer Service By Amazon. If it's late, not arrived at promised delivery date, then they can get refunded and they are told they can keep the item if and whenever it arrives. Did you sign up for this service?

I signed up for free while they were running a promotion. My returns suddenly changed to getting back in a month what I usually got back in 6 months. The free promotion was only if I kept my IBI score above 400. If it dipped below this they started charging me for CSBA. Needless to say my score had never been under 400 and all the sudden it starting dropping. Nothing changed for this to happen. I had to quickly drop the CSBA. My returns returned to normal and my IBI score went back up.

As far as Amazon is concerned when providing a refund it is just OPM (other People's Money).
Basically, they don't have a problem refunding their customers with your money.
Selling on Amazon is a numbers game. For every scammer, there are a lot of legitimate customers. Hopefully after the dust settles, there is a profit.
Keep in mind....if you had a brick and mortar store you would have to deal with shoplifters.

What is almost as bad is somehow your punctuation marks have been stolen from your post!
Thank you for a textbook example of a run-on sentence.
As for your problem situation, you clearly jumped-in before knowing how deep and how cold the water was.
Put your account on vacation mode until you can figure out the best way forward.
Good Luck!

I don't know if this will apply to CSBA, but the following message began popping up on the A-Z Claims page of Seller Central this week.
Unfortunately, this new policy relies on the customer choosing to return the item or cancel the refund.

Honestly, I prefer reaching out to the customer ourselves in these situations. So many people don't understand that the money comes from small businesses like us, they believe that Amazon is paying them so they don't care.
However, when we are able to explain that we are a small business and ask that they either return the item or have the refund reversed, many of them will.
I have had multiple customers contact Amazon to have their refund reversed, but Amazon Customer Service can't /won't help them and often tells them to keep the product and not worry about it. Hopefully, this system will make refund reversals easier, but I do wish that we could tell the customer that the money is coming from a small business, not a giant corporation like Amazon. In my experience, customers are a lot more considerate once they realize that they aren't getting over on Amazon, but a small business.
At the end of the day, it shouldn't matter where the money is coming from. If they receive a refund, they should return the product as they have not paid for it, but....
Anyways, I've gotten off track and I apologize. I don't know if CSBA refunds show up as A-Z Claims, but if so then they should be contacting the buyer to return the product or reverse the refund per the new policy posted above.
Amazon Customer Service seems to have been trained to issue a refund to resolve any customer queries as quickly as possible. I've had many cases where a customer contacts Amazon for something simple like product info, fitment data, tracking assistance, etc. after the sale and Amazon will open an A-Z Claim. In some cases this actually prevents us from helping the customer. For instance, I cannot/will not send a replacement once an A-Z Claim is opened. The risk of the customer getting both the replacement and a refund is very high so the only option is a return for a refund.
I would personally never trust Amazon to handle customer service. They are not familiar with the products and their goal is to ensure the customer is happy with Amazon. It's not their money; plus Amazon keeps a $5 refund processing fee and a portion of the fees on every refund, so they have nothing to lose by giving away your money.
I would strongly recommend that you handle your customer service in house if at all possible.
