Getting Buy Box on new product
I listed a new product as a new seller a few days ago, and I've set up a sponsored product campaign for it, but it doesn't get any impressions. I contacted support and was told this:
"You may add product listings that aren't the featured offer to your ad group. The ad will show as delivering in campaign manager, however, your ads will not display to shoppers until you win the featured offer."
As you need sales and good metrics for the product to get the featured offer, and you need the featured offer to run ads, how do I start getting sales? The product doesn't rank organically so I need to run ads to get sales, but I can't run ads because I need sales.
Seems a bit paradoxical to me. Maybe I'm missing something?

The logic behind this is that the majority of sales are made from the buy-box, so if you don't have the buy-box then you would just be advertising for someone else's benefit, which would obviously be a complete waste of money - PPC does not come cheap.

Is your listing active?
Is it FBA or FBM? If FBA do you have stock in Amazon warehouse?
Maybe you could try to send link of your product to some friends and do test buy.

It can take time to get the buy box. Are you the only seller selling this item? Are you selling at the competitive price?
You are more likely to get the buy box if the stock is in FBA.
