Does Amazon charge 15% on the shipping too?

I was wondering if amazon charges 15% on the shipping customers pay or is it just the product price.

Amazon charges a commission (15% on most categories; varies on a few) on the entire amount that the customer pays, including any shipping charges (but not on Sales Tax).

So if you price something at $20 with $10 shipping, or $30 with "free" shipping, the end result is the same.

What @Seller_nRFmxiQg4EGrw is saying is correct.

The REASON is quite simple -- back in the "old days" both Amazon and eBay only based their commissions on the price of the item.

Some people ( a LOT of people) saw the entry gates wide open and priced items at $0.01 and charged $10 (or whatever) for shipping.

It didn't take both sites long to figure out that they were being screwed by sellers doing that and they fixed the problem (for them).

I'm sure as a seller who has been around for several months that YOU wouldn't dream of doing something like that, would you?

Rule #1 on Amazon -- AMAZON is only interested in FEES.
