Brand Name REMOVED from Brand Registry
We have been selling on amazon for over 8 years. suddenly Brand Name REMOVED from Brand Registry just like that. I did some digging and found out that the attorney we paid to follow up with USPTO without us knowing had abandoned the application. Still amazon informed us that we will be on the registry.
Now they just removed my brand name with a long list of things that may have caused this. Is it too much to ask that Amazon just let us know up front what we did wrong instead of this?
I have hired a new attorney and reapplied with USPTO. Do I appeal this or do I add the trademark again with a new application?

Hello @Seller_UQjMEIGXMjjOu,
My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I would be happy to assist you with getting your Brand Registry eligibility back.
First, I was unable to locate the case where Amazon informed you that you were removed from brand Registry. Please provide just the case ID here and I can review as needed.
Given what you have provided here, the reason for your removal from Brand Registry is because your Trademark is no longer registered in USPTO. One of the requirements to be enrolled in Brand Registry is a Pending or Registered TM in at least 1 of 20 countries or the EUIPO.
Your next steps forward will depend on the outcome/process you are currently going through with the TM. Here are the 2 potential scenarios that I believe are likely:
- With your new attorney you are able to successfully "re-claim," the current TM. In this case, you will appeal the decision of your removal from brand registry (there should be an appeal link in your notice of removal).
- With your new attorney, you are unable to "re-claim," your TM so you will have to submit an application for a new TM. Once you have submitted the new application to USPTO, you will have to enroll a new brand (that matches the new TM exactly). Please also keep in mind that Brand Name changes beyond minor typos are not allowed so if you do create a new brand, you will have to create new ASINs within that brand.
Here are a few references for you:
- Amazon Brand Name Policy (specifically, the last FAQ at the bottom of the page "I’m unable to edit the ASIN brand name to correct a typo, capitalization, or legal abbreviation showing incorrectly on the Detail page." This provides the detail on brand name changes)
- Brand Registry eligibility requirements
- Additional Brand Registry FAQ's
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best, Dougal
