KYC unmet UK VAT email stress
We are a UK standard partnership, VAT registered company trading SOLELY from a UK address. Been on Amazon since 2013, declared all VAT for Amazon sales to HMRC, all present and correct.
On 16th January we received the dreaded email saying Amazon think we're not a UK company and we may owe them VAT - no we don't. So we sent everything but the kitchen sink to them document wise for the obvious KYC periodic reverification later that evening. On the 17th, we got an email saying they're reviewing this and will let us know when all complete. They will find all our paperwork is in order from the last time and no change. Not heard a peep since. All disbursements have stopped and we've not had access to monies since 16th but still allowed to sell.
Tonight 22nd, I've received an email to my PERSONAL email, with the intro...
A reserve has been placed on the funds in your account because you have another Amazon account with balance due related to unpaid VAT to Amazon.
With your permission, funds from this account can be used to cover the VAT liability on your other Amazon account. If you would like to use this payment method, please send authorization to....

I am puzzled by this, I don't have another account. I logged into seller central with my personal email address and there seems to be a default individual account in my Amazon buyer account details - I don't use this, never have.
We have ZERO VAT liability with Amazon. What on earth is going on. This reverification this time around it sickening and I cannot tell you the effect this is having on me mentally and physically. We have been nothing but a good seller on Amazon and adhered to everything they've thrown at us. We've never cause Amazon any bother. The only thing different from last time KYC check is I renewed my passport. They've not pushed back requiring anything further at this stage but saying we owe VAT is reprehensible and untrue, it's making me so ill.
How long on average is it taking everyone from start to finish to get through this latest verification?
Mods please can you shed any light on why sellers who don't owe VAT and being told they do and being accused of not being a UK company?

We're having exactly the same problem. We're a French based company fully French and OSS VAT registered. We were told that Amazon no longer believe we are French VAT registered.
We've had to send a ton of info and now have this same email saying we owe UK VAT. We don't buy from or sell to the UK!
I have a case open with CS but they've gone quiet now for a week.
At the same time Amazon are really pushing their in-house VAT services! Coincidence?

We are in exactly the same position as you, exact same emails. Got the first email on 16th, sent all the documentation they wanted. Today got the same VAT email as you. Contacted Seller Cemtral who have escalted it to their 'specialist team' I will let you know if I ever get an answer!

"Mods please can you shed any light on why sellers who don't owe VAT and being told they do and being accused of not being a UK company?"
Where are the mods?
We had a lot of fairly active mods before the great froum reset but they seem to have either vanished or are keeping a very low profile.
In the wake of the post Office scandal, it beggars belief that Amazon are threatening to take money from sellers accounts for money they don't actually owe.
With so many sellers reporting multiple failures when it comes to sending ultra sensitive personal documents to Amazon, it's clear that something is very wrong with the implementation of these checks.

When you say you have never used your personal account, does mean you have never bought anything from Amazon?

We do have same experience, they believe that we have another account that owe them VAT, they did not mention what is the account they believe it is, what is the sum they believe we do owe them , the only thing they mention their bank account and said , make the payment to this account. are you out of this world or what? this seems like financial bullying. i did write dozens of emails but they just do not bother answering, this is clearly illegal thing what they are doing. i am just coming to a conclusion that amazon is not a safe platform anymore, as this financial bullying is not acceptable at all. being at their mercy without legal grounds i just find that i must pull out from amazon.

Did anyone get to the bottom of this. Spam perhaps...?

Hello Amazon sellers
Our Company received a KYC verification email requesting numerous documents two weeks ago.
Documents were submitted on four seperate occasions.
Each time KYC requested further documents to validate the account.
Disbursements have been withdrawn to the sum of £50,000 & today, our board of Directors made the commercial decision to put our Amazon UK store on holiday mode to prevent any further orders.
Without Prejudice
Today, our Company intructed lawyers to take legal action against Amazon UK.
As an established Company of 30 years, our board of Directors strongly urge other sellers to seek legal advice.
Good luck.

I am in the saem boat, Uk incorporated Ltd company. Only sell in UK.
Funds frozen, saying we owe Amazon for VAt whioch have already paid to HMRC as we do each quarter. Endless requests for all sorts of documents. Yesterday I spoke with HMRC who sent me an uptodate VAT cert that states that we a a UK company WITH UK ESTABLISHMENT. They said that is all they need to know.
I sent it straight to KYC and they reply asking for details of directors, thir ID documents, proof of physically operating in the UK etc...They already have this.
It seems that regardless of what HMRC say Amazon are determined to make their own decision on your UK establishment. So what happens if Amazon decide you are not UK established but HMRC say that you are???
How incompetent can you get?

We are in exactly the same position, we went through all of their checks sending countless documents. We then got an email saying our account had been verified, however we still were not able to pull our funds. After lots of emails and chasing we got the following email
Hello,
Thank you for your submission.
We have reviewed the information that you provided and we confirm that your disbursement will be released within the next payment cycle.
Amazon Services Europe
Once again our funds still were not released, they are now having us re submit all the information again!
Has anyone else had their account verified and then asked to re submit the information?
