Want to expand to the EU
Hi,
We are a UK-registered company and have been selling electric appliances (coffee and tea makers) via Amazon FBA in the home country for several years. We are also VAT-registered in the UK.
Now we want to expand our business to the EU with Amazon FBA. As far as I understand from the overwhelming amount of resources on the subject our two main challenges will be on the VAT and compatibility fronts. I would very much appreciate your advice on one or both of the questions below:
1. UK versus EU power plug: We would like to launch two versions of the same electric products, a UK version with the 3-pin UK plug and an EU version with a 2-pin EU plug (despite all my searches I could not find a "multi-compatible" plug which can somehow be switched between the UK and EU modes by the customer). I assume that this will require two different ASINs. My question is about the logistics of the two different ASINs. Should I be shipping the EU version from the manufacturer (in China) to an EU FC? Can I manage this from our UK Seller Central account? Is Amazon Global Logistics an ideal way of doing this?
2. VAT registration: The EU version of our product will be retailed below the €150 mark (€149.90 actually). Should I be registered for VAT in an EU country or will Amazon manage the VAT aspects of the business on our behalf?
Thanks in advance and I wish all of you a very successful Christmas business.
