New Seller, Need help to understand shipping options

Hello,

I am new to Amazon Seller selling in the US Marketplace. I need some help understanding shipping options for shipments India -> US and US ->US

Can someone please help me understand that?

As per my research so far, all shipping options are extremely expensive. I am very confused about how sellers can deliver small amounts of products (e.g.: $9) from India to the US with free shipping.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Bigger sellers usually get better shipper rates.

After that, it comes down to profit. If you sell an item for $10, Amazon takes (about) $1.50 in fees. ($2.50 if you have an individual account, otherwise you pay $40/month and have to consider that expense and subtract it from your profit)

If you can get the product for $2 and shipping costs you $6 then you wont make any profit, even selling it at $9, because you have to also factor in lost shipments and item not received claims. And there will be many, shipping from India to the US.....

What you would need to do, is ship a larger quantity to either FBA, or a local fulfillment warehouse, so it can be shipped locally (will still cost you AT LEAST $6/per small item with fulfillment)

You would also need a US return address or you will have to refund every item that has an unhappy buyer
