IRS Is Requesting Sales Tax

I have been trying to reach out to someone Directly from Amazon Seller Central but that seems almost impossible.

Anyway, I have received a letter in the mail from the IRS that I owe some sales tax on the items that I sold on my seller account. However, Amazon is suppose to take the taxes directly off of each sale. Is there away I can get this issue resolved with the IRS. Can Someone send me verification that Amazon reported the taxes they took from the sale?

Can someone HELP ME PLEASE.

IRS doesn't collect sales tax. What is the name of the agency at the top of the letter you received, and the form number? What exactly is the stated demand?

They specified Amazon? Do you sell anywhere else?

Isn't there a contact number for help in the notice?

Google the number FFS. Make sure you are dealing with a real entity, and not a scam.

Did you file a sales/use tax return with your state (either annual or quarterly)?

I don't owe anything either in my state but I have to file a return stating so. Florida may be different.

Google "does Amazon collect sales tax for Florida". It has a lot of info on the topic.

In Pa I have to file a return even if I don't sell a single thing in-state. You may have the same issue. (So I file a zero return twice a year.) You may have to do the same thing.

Make sure you're not responding to a spoof email. I would not use any phone number sent by email. google the phone number for the help line at the sales tax office or the Dept of revenue

We have a FL DOR account. Even if you dont have any sales you still have to process your sales taxes each quarter. If you do not then you get a late fee that starts at $50....they will send a letter for that

I'm in Florida. For years I have filed showing the total gross in one box. And then I show the entire gross as "exempt" in the following box.

So far, no issues.

If you have your nexus in Florida like we do you must file with the state monthly or quarterly. Just show all 0's, you are not required to report total sales to them and Amazon pays sales tax collected from Florida customers

I have sold on Amazon for 20 years and the IRS has never sent me anything in reference to taxes. Sometimes, a state will send a sales tax collection bill. I think you may have a scam going. I would ignore it. Definitely, don't respond with any information.

California is the same, you have to file a return even if you don't owe any sales tax.
