Creating new listing after enrolling in Brand Registry

Hello!

I have a new product with a brand that I eventually want to enroll in Brand Registry, but am currently not ready to apply for a trademark for it, I plan on doing so in the future.

From what I've gathered, if I list my product with the generic brand name I will later have to create a new listing after I enroll in Brand Registry in order for the listing to show my brand name and have access to its tools.

My question is, if I get my brand approved by Amazon first by going through the Brand Approval process, which i understand does not require a trademark, will I still need to create a new listing in order for it to have have access to the tools and benefits of Brand Registry when I am able to enroll, or can i keep using the brand approved listing?

No. You do not need to create a new listing. You can continue using the one you have created.

For example.

Lets pretend your brand is called XYZ. You have not trademarked XYZ yet.

This means you cannot enroll into brand registry...but you can get the brand name XYZ approved by going through the brand name approval process which requires you sending over images of your brand permanently affixed onto your product. Lets pretend you are selling boxes.

Your logo for XYZ needs to be printed on your boxes and you need to take a "live picture" (a picture of your box with the brand name XYZ printed on it taken with a smart phone) of your box and send it to Amazon for the brand name approval process.

Be advised that you would have gotten the brand name XYZ approved for use. All letters are capitalized.

If you later trademark XyZ, you will not be able to use the listing you have created for brand registry. You must trademark XYZ (all letters capitalized) if you want to continue using the listings you have created.

Once you trademark XYZ, you can continue using the listing with the brand name XYZ that you created before you enrolled into brand registry. You do not need to create a new listing.
