Is this is Drop Shipper?
Here is the situation:
We received an order from what appears to be a drop shipper. This drop shipper has now ordered 5 different orders shipped to 5 different names and addresses.
We were contacted, via a message on our phone answering machine, by the person that the most recent order was shipped to and they wanted to know why they were charged $35.40 on their credit card and the packing list we included in the package was a total of $18.74.
I am assuming that the drop shipper listed the same item we have at a higher price than ours and when they received the order they purchased the one we have and had it drop shipped to fulfill their order. Then reported that the package was shipped using the tracking number we provided, and in the process made a profit of $16.66 minus any Amazon fees they were charged for the original order.
I'm not totally sure I like the idea of drop shipping, however we received the amount that we would have received regardless of who ordered the music. BUT now our store is taking flack from the original person who ordered the music from the drop shipper and being accused of overcharging.
Has anyone else dealt with this and if so what did you say to the person that questioned you about the total cost? I have ideas on what to say but wanted to hear input from other sellers who may have dealt with this issue.

Yes, that was a dropshipper.

How did this "customer" find your phone?
And yes, that was a dropshipper. Ask this "customer" if he bought on Amazon (I doubt it) and tell him to contact the person/company who sold it to him.You can honestly tell him, that his seller bought from you and sold to him, therefore the difference in price, but that YOU have nothing to do with that all.

So your phone contact was on your packing slip which the customer used to contact you.
If the customer ordered from another seller who used you for drop shipping, then the order number on your packing slip will not match the customer's order number on their order.
If the customer ordered from another seller who used you for drop shipping, the buyer's name on your packing slip will show the person who purchased and sent to the receiving person.
If the customer ordered from another seller who used you for drop shipping, the customer should be using the contact methods (Amazon email system) to contact the buyer which would be directed to the seller who used you for drop shipping.
If the customer ordered from another seller who used your for drop shipping and files an A2Z claim or does a credit card charge back, then these action will go against the seller who used you for drop shipping.
We would save an audio copy of the message left on your message system. We would not respond as it is not the person who bought from you. If you do respond, you would first ask politely for the customer to give you the order number that they have. Compare the order number and then explain that it does not match your order number and give the customer instructions to use the Contact Seller button on their order to reach the person from whom they purchased from.
We would keep a copy of the packing slip for all orders coming from this buyer/seller who appears to be using you for drop shipping as shipping references can be maintained. You need to build your defense against A2Z claims from this buyer/seller as they will most likely turn around and file in some manner against you when their customer files against them.
Obviously, it is against Amazon policy for this buyer/seller to drop ship from you and not have their seller's information on the packing slip sent with the order. We suggest letting it be this buyer/seller's customers as being the ones to report them.

You're welcome.
Again ... would save a copy of the packing slips from this buyer/seller at the time of the order so that you have a copy of the shipping address for future reference in case you need it.

I remember trying to explain drop-shipping to a very angry customer who ordered an item from Dropshipper X (under a very generic description which was graded Very Good) who then bought our item (graded as Good only) and had us ship it to the customer. The customer, was NOT happy with the condition of the item, and when he understood the mechanisms of drop-shipping, he could not believe that Amazon -- or anyone else -- would allow such a practice to continue.
I kept telling him that he had not actually bought the item from us, but rather from Dropshipper X, and that any complaints sound be directed to Dropshipper X. He then accused us of colluding with a rancid and fraudulent system. I told him that it was not easy even for us to tell whether someone buying from us is a drop-shipper or just an ordinary customer. He began shouting and finally hung up on me. A very unpleasant conversation indeed!

I can tell you they are not selling on amazon. Orders shipped by another seller get flagged immediately as drop shipping. THey would have to be selling on another platform.

It is possible that the seller who is using you as drop shipper is selling same products on ebay and other selling platforms for higher price. it is on that seller. be sure to keep documents and better use buy shipping and signature confirmation on deliveries.
you can search google and google shopping section and try to find your product.

Yes, a seller like you is using your cheaper inventory to sell to others, you have 2 options
Cancel all his orders, ruin your metrics, get bad feedback from him and probably returns, or
report the issue, and dont include a packing list, tell him politely to stop and hope it does not backfire.
this has happened to us many times
