EU customers charged import fees
Good afternoon all, here’s a tricky one.
A customer orders a product from Amazon Italy - we have the product listed in the UK but shipped form the UK -
If a client orders from here - who pays their import fee…
BREXIT has given us lots of problems.
There are insufficient orders in the EU to warrant FBA there
(I’ll cancel the EU listings I think… - sham )
Thanks
Aidan

You as the seller have to cover all the import fees - buyer must not be charged more than the initial price they paid. Many sellers stick to just UK now.

You pay the import fees but for orders under 135 in value Amazon will have already collected and remitted the VAT, and you’re supposed to use Amazon’s IOSS number to indicate that there is no VAT due on the shipment.

Yes - on Amazon it is against their T&Cs for a buyer to have to pay extra on delivery.
However, if item is less than £135/150 Euro then there should be no import duties only VAT to consider and Amazon have to collect this on your behalf under IOSS. You will find Amazon will subtract the Italian VAT from your disbursement, charge the customer whatever price you set, then forward the VAT to the Italian Tax Service. If Italian VAT is higher than UK VAT you lose out on profit.
But also do not forget if they bought from the Italian site and want to return, then if you do not provide an Italian address for the return or send a pre-paid returns label, then the customer will be granted a returnless refund

Hey @brightsidebikelights,
@Shrewsbury_Marine_S1, @Postees1 & @Simply_NikNaks1 said it best (thank you very much by the way!), but let me attach this help page, Fulfilling International Orders on Your Own, more specifically this part,
1. Do not expose customers to customs delays and additional duties and taxes on their products. It is your responsibility to discuss with your carrier how duties and taxes will be paid and to choose shipping methods that ensure that customers are not exposed to such payments or delays upon delivery of the goods.
Hope this helps
