Name and Tax ID don't match IRS Records

Please help! I am encountering the below message when I am verifying my tax information...

"The Name and Tax ID provided do not match IRS records. Please review your previous inputs and ensure the "Name" line is the correct name associated with the Tax ID provided. You should complete the tax information for the individual or business that will report the income on a U.S. income tax return. If you are completing the tax interview on behalf of a single member LLC, generally the owner’s Name and Tax ID would be provided."

I am entering the information correctly and got the information straight from the IRS. What did y'all do to overcome this issue?

Are you a Single Member LLC? If you are, even if you have an EIN, Amazon will be using your personal SSN. The IRS treats single member LLC's as "pass through" entities where the income of the LLC is essentially assigned to the LLC owner for tax purposes. Amazon does the same thing.

For a single member LLC, your "Legal Enitity" name is your personal name. Your LLC can be your DBA (Doing Business As) name.

I know I made some assumptions here. Hope this helps.

Good Evening @Seller_v16nCaTj7kgSa & @Seller_damcPREnZRGAb, Thanks for reaching out to us on the Seller Forums. Did you still need some help with your tax verification for Amazon?

If you have a Selling Partner Support case ID (which it sounds like you both might), I can begin investigating the issue more thoroughly.

I also wanted to provide you with the U.S. Tax Interview FAQ help page and call out this specific section:

I received an error message when trying to complete the Tax Interview. What should I do?

The information provided during the Tax Interview needs to match the IRS records.

  • If you are completing the U.S. Tax Identity Information Interview as an individual, use the information that appears on your Social Security card.
  • If you are completing the information as a business, use the name that appears on the top line of the address on your CP575A notice from the IRS.
  • Misspelling your name, not including your middle initial or middle name, or entering an incorrect Tax Identification Number (TIN) may cause validation of your form to fail.

If this issue is still ongoing, I look forward to hearing from you both soon with your case IDs. If the issue is resolved, please disregard this message and have a great weekend. Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon
