VAT on Amazon PPC

I've just switched the payment on my Amazon PPC from my seller account to an AMEX credit card so i can get some airmiles.

From doing this i have noticed that Amazon charge the AMEX every day for my PPC and also produce an invoice daily. On the invoice there seems to be 20% VAT added but it doesn't actually call it VAT. It just says for example:

Subtotal (excluding tax) 523.84 GBP

Total Amount (tax included) 628.61 GBP

The total amount is 20% higher than the subtotal amount which i believe is VAT.

I am VAT registered so am i able to claim this back? I don't seem to have a proper VAT invoice for the PPC though. Any advice?

I don't do PPC so can only guess but are you getting a daily invoice that is marked invoice and showing Amazon's VAT number or are you just getting a daily receipt for the payments taken and will have to wait for the end of the month (plus several days for it to be generated) for the actual invoice?

Others who do PPC will be able to advise better.

Keep an eye on Reports - Tax Document Library - Product Ads Invoice, which is produced any day now, which will be the full VAT invoice for Ads which shows the VAT.

Yes go to Menu > Reports > tax document library - and it should appear there with full charges and VAT for the month. I have been getting these through on the 6th of the following month for years but today we are at the 10th and still no sign of it. 😕

As others have said wait for the monthly invoice that will appear in Tax Documents. This will give you the full breakdown for the whole month you can use for accounts and claim back the VAT. The daily AMEX report you are getting is more like a receipt and not a proper invoice.

A slight tangent here, but I didn't know it was possible to pay for advertising in this way. I thought it had to just be charged to your seller account and they would only hit the associated card if the balance was insufficient.

I pay about £600 (including VAT) per month for Amazon advertising. Are you saying I could pay this using my business Barclaycard and benefit from the 1% cashback they give me?

You can charge advertising to a card of your choice. Check the settings in advertising.
