USPS Media Mail Dilemma
I am looking for a way to save money on shipping books/magazines. I am not a business, but a teacher who has been selling books/magazines I no longer want on Amazon since 2002. I have used USPS Media Mail consistently all these years. We still only receive $3.99 shipping credit through Amazon, even though the post office is increasing their prices consistently. I shipped out a regular sized paperback book today that cost over $6.00. Are there any other methods I can use where I am not losing so much money on the postage all the time?

Buy your shipping through Amazon's Buy Shipping; that will allow you to use Bound Printed Matter, which is allowed not only on books, but also magazines with advertising, which is NOT allowed under Media Mail. The savings are significant.
In addition, you may need to adjust your prices; if you are on the Pro plan, you can change your shipping templates, or regardless of the plan, you can just raise your prices a bit to cover the additional shipping cost. And if you can't get at least $8 (and that only for the lightest books), you can't make any profit, so just recycle/donate them.

In addition to what @Seller_nRFmxiQg4EGrwhas noted, Amazon is no longer as friendly to even professional book sellers as it used to be.
As a teacher, if you are selling any textbooks it's a bit surprising that you have not been suspended since nearly all the textbook publishers have clamped down on sellers here!
In addition to the bound printed matter, look to other sites to sell on. Amazon is really no longer friendly for part-time hobby sellers and people just unloading their unwanted items.
