Customer only returned 1 item, Amazon refunded customer for both items
A customer ordered 2 of one item. They said in their return request that they only meant to order one, but they chose "2" in the return request. Amazon gave them a full refund for both items. The customer only returned one of the items since they did want one and said so in the return request. So the customer still owes us for the one they said they were going to keep and did not return.
We filed a SAFE-T claim with Amazon with pictures of the single item returned but they keep denying our claim even though we've provided everything that we are able to provide them. Amazon won't refund us for the one item the customer kept and the keep denying the SAFE-T claim. We are out an item and almost $100 for the sale of the item the customer kept.
What else can we do to get Amazon to refund us for the refund they gave the customer for the item the customer kept?

When you are submitting the SAFE-T claim, are you including pictures of the product that was returned outside of the packaging? They seem to always like to see it outside of the packaging because they seem to think there is a chance that the second one is hiding inside.

Hi @Seller_usHCTQ6zRxAfbapologies for my response delay. I've created two separate escalations on your behalf since we spoke last. The latest one is still in review. I was hoping to hear back ahead of the holiday weekend but alas, I have not.
Things might be a bit slow over the next few days, but I am hopeful we will get an update next week.
Thanks,
- Danika

Amazon's return and refund policy is completely flawed!! We have received returns that are not even ours. Customers have been refunded for two items when one is returned. It is horrible and there is no one to help.

I am currently in the same situation. A customer ordered 2 of the same textbooks but only returned 1 even thought they generated 2 separate return labels. Amazon automatically refunded on first tracking scan of one of the labels. I was denied SAFE-T claim but just appealed showing in tracking that weight was only for 1 item since I didn't take a picture when opening package... we'll will see if Amazon does the right thing.
