Handmade customization options new 400 px image requirements error message
I am still confused as to why Amazon requires sellers to include a new 400 px x 400 px preview image as part of our handmade customizations (Such as Option Dropdown). You imply below that we only have to update our customizations if items have only optional text and number customizations. None of my listings have any optional text, font or number customizations, but I can not save my customizations unless I load up a 400 px x 400 px image. I do have at least one zero-cost customization option for all my item's customization.
Some of my items have customizations which include 'Options dropdown' options such as size, but not what I call 'Custom' items.
Are there any customization options, such as shown in the below screenprint, that do not require a 400 px image?
Why does Amazon require a preview image photo as shown in the second screen print, or give you an error, when the item has no optional text or number customizations?
Is this going to cause a mess for many sellers who have items that have customizations in 2024 when the preview photo is not loaded to the 400px x 400px specs and have problems with error messages or having their items not eligible for sale?
Amazon states: "It is required to include at least one zero-cost customization option, in order for Handmade listings to receive the enhanced customization experience. To ensure that your products remain eligible for sale, you must update listings that have only optional text and number customizations in order to comply with the new requirement that requires customers to select one customization."

From Amazon:
Reminder: Update your Custom Listings before December 31st, 2023.
On May 23, 2023, we announced that we're enhancing the customization experience in Seller Central to provide you with additional options for your custom Handmade listings. Those options include the following:
• Image customization, along with text and font customization
• Customizations on multiple surfaces
• Customization previews on the detail page, in the cart, and at checkout.
It is required to include at least one zero-cost customization option, in order for Handmade listings to receive the enhanced customization experience. To ensure that your products remain eligible for sale, you must update listings that have only optional text and number customizations in order to comply with the new requirement that requires customers to select one customization.

Hi @Cactus,
Thanks for the post. Please note that the square image preview of 400px x 400px has always been a requirement when creating a customization. This is not related to the HM customization enhancements announcement from last year.
Best regards,
