Listing Optimizatin: Keywords, Keyword Phrases, and Plural - confused because it says does not matter but it does?
Hi y'all!
This is my first time using these forums so be easy on me. I couldn't find the answer but I'm sure it's been discussed. Amazon states that singular and plural does not matter but when I search the rank of products are very different.
What about keyword phrases, should I have each different keyword phrase or once I used the word it does not matter that it is not in a specific order? This is for the listing and when I check different websites some say that you should treat each phrase as a different keyword while others say once you have all the words in your listing it does not have to be grouped together as the exact phrase.
Both seem to have it's merit because when you do PPC the specific order matters greatly and that you have all the different exact keyword phrases. They all seem to matter and each phrase is treated as it's own keyword.
Also doing searches with the words in different order makes a huge difference in results. So again confused if creating a listing each phrase should be treated as a different keyword or only each word should be treated as a keyword?

I am far from an authority on keywords / Amazon, but I have read their guides to the extent that I know you do not need to repeat words (should not repeat words).
And -- it is possible to get into trouble based on nothing but keywords.
Don't use any words that might raise a pesticide flag.
Don't use trademarked words (example -- if you are selling generic tennis shoes, don't use Nike / Adidas, etc in keywords)

Hello @Seller_mQdyfqleoYf4R- and welcome to forums! While other sellers chime in with their experiences, I did want to share a couple resources that might be beneficial. Including how to optimize your listing discovery, making sure your products are accurately classified, and how to use search terms effectively.
To my knowledge, as long as these guidelines aren't departed from, you should be able to use the approach that works best for your products! I would pay particular attention to any keywords that might indicate a medical or pesticide claim though.
I hope this helps, and if you do identify what approach works best, don't hesitate to share it here on the forums!
Best,
Danny
