Returns window to be extended for 2024 holidays

Similar to previous years, our standard returns window will be temporarily extended in all EU stores to give customers the confidence to shop early for the holidays and help you increase your sales.

Our 2024 Extended Holiday Returns policy requires that items bought between November 1, 2024, and December 25, 2024, can be returned until January 31, 2025, or within 30 days from receipt, whichever is later, in the following stores:

  • Amazon.co.uk
  • Amazon.de
  • Amazon.fr
  • Amazon.it
  • Amazon.nl
  • Amazon.pl
  • Amazon.se
  • Amazon.com.be

This excludes items bought on Amazon.de and Amazon.it in the Camera, Electronics, Office Products, PC, Wireless, Video Games, Music and Video/DVD categories, which can be returned until January 15, 2025, or within 14 days from receipt, whichever is later.

Items bought on Amazon.es between November 1, 2024, and January 6, 2025, can be returned until February 6, 2025, or within 30 days from receipt, whichever is later.

The extended return window applies to seller-fulfilled, FBA and Amazon Retail orders.

Although the returns window for orders will be extended, returns eligibility for all orders remains the same.

Amazon says in this: 'temporarily extended in all EU stores' -

As far as I knew England, Scotland, and Wales are no longer in the EU.

NI is sort of in the EU agreements, but even so are supposed to be part of the UK as well.

The problem is Buyers can buy something on say 1 November, and return it on 31 January, so 3 months using an item, and they expect to get a full refund.

This policy is supposed to be for Buyers to buy early, and the item be returned 'as new' if unwanted, or opened at Xmas and it is faulty.

With such low profits on many items, and all the Amazon payment delays, Amazon should (but won't) consider altering this policy. As a very minimum the item should be returned 'as new' and that should be made very clear on the policy (it is just hidden in the small print, so Buyers are then unhappy if they do not get a full refund). It should be clear if bought in November and the item is being used, then, the usual 30 day return policy applies. If for Xmas, why does anyone then need over a month after to return it anyway, surely to request the return, and return the item, postmarked by say 7 January (that gives the Buyer 2 weeks from Xmas).

I can't understand how they can bypass the Consumer Protection Regulations Act 2000 (former distance selling regs) and enforce this. I already dislike how Amazon tell me how to run my business. As most of my sales come from another popular market place. It looks like holiday mode for me for 2 months on here. I had someone return something at the end of January that was bought in November and it wasn't a gift so it gets abused. im not participating in this BullS**t this year

Please ensure your Seller Support, Account Health and A-Z Guarantee teams also get this memo. I should not be penalised for refusing to refund heavily used items with a made up issue or fault returned in the last week of January.
