Envelope, parcel and special oversize
Shipping weight in the envelope, parcel and special oversize tiers is calculated based on the unit weight and by mapping the item to the relevant weight tier. For example, if an ASIN has dimensions of 34 x 25 x 6 cm and a unit weight of 1.7 kg, it will qualify for the "Small parcel 1.9 kg" weight tier.
Small oversize, standard oversize, and large oversize
The shipping weight is calculated for each unit by using the greater of the unit weight or the dimensional weight. The dimensional weight (in kg) is equal to the unit volume (length x width x height) divided by 5,000.
Size tier | Shipping weight |
---|---|
Envelope (≤ 33 x 23 x 6 cm) | Unit weight1 |
Parcel (≤ 45 x 34 x 26 cm) | Unit weight1 |
Oversize | The greater of the unit weight1 or dimensional weight2 |
Special oversize (length > 175 cm or girth > 360 cm or unit weight > 31.50 kg) | Unit weight1 |
1 The unit weight is the weight of an individual unit in manufacturer-provided product packaging.
2 For small oversize, standard oversize, and large oversize units, Amazon uses dimensional weight to determine weight tier whenever it is greater than the unit weight
